The Ram 1500 and Toyota Tacoma are two trucks that pull out all the stops when it comes to capability. Whether you’re towing, trekking off-road, or just tailgating—they’re up for the challenge. Let’s ride!
If you’re hitching up a trailer, you’ll be happy to have the Ram 1500 at your side. This model can tow up to 12,750 pounds when outfitted with its available 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine. It’s capable of 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.
The Tacoma falls behind the competition when it comes to towing capacity. It can only manage up to 6,800 pounds of trailer weight. Its most powerful engine also falls short. The available 3.5L V6 is only capable of 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.
Both models bring all-terrain aptitude to the trails with their off-road-tuned trim levels. The Ram 1500 TRX and Tacoma TRD Off-Road both come with Bilstein® shocks. Only the TRX, however, boasts a whopping ground clearance of 11.8 inches. The TRD Off-Road tops out at just 9.4 inches.
Whether you’re at the jobsite or the campsite, it’s important to have a truck that brings you all the comforts of home. That begs the question: Which truck has it where it counts? Let’s step inside and find out!
If you’re looking for more room, the Ram 1500 measures out bigger than the Toyota Tacoma. When comparing their largest cab options, this is out things compare:
The rear seats in the Ram 1500 Crew Cab boast a whopping 45.2 inches of legroom. Your squad will be able to make the most of that extra space with the available reclining rear seat. It’s great after a long day, they’ll be able to kick back for a quick nap.
You’ll only get in-floor storage with the Ram 1500. The covered storage bins are perfect for a few extra tools or your climbing gear. Is it game day? You could also fill them with ice and your favorite beverages for the tailgate.
The Ram 1500 keeps the convenience coming with the available reconfigurable center console. It’s deep enough to accommodate a 15-inch laptop.
Intuitive features can be the difference between getting the job done right and on time. Luckily, both the 1500 and the Tacoma come with a wide array of connective systems to help keep you in touch with the worksite and the world around you.
The Ram 1500 is available with the Uconnect® 5 NAV system. It comes with an expansive 12-inch touchscreen display that will give you a much better view than the 8-inch touchscreen in the Tacoma.
Both infotainment systems give you access to a similar lineup of connectivity features. They include:
If you’re ready to be the life of the next tailgate or turn the worksite into a concert venue, the six JBL® speakers, available with the Tacoma can help. The Ram 1500, however, takes your listening experience to the next level with the available Harman Kardon® Premium Audio System. It brings a whopping 19 speakers to the party.
